Assault on Illiteracy
The Zeta Chi Chapter’s Assault on Illiteracy Reading Program engages grade school students, focusing on young men of color to advance their reading skills. Recognizing literacy as a foundation for success, brothers mentor youth to help bridge critical educational gaps.
The Zeta Chi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. proudly supports the Assault on Illiteracy Reading Program, a transformative initiative that empowers grade school students, particularly young men of color, to develop and enhance their reading skills. Fraternity brothers work directly with students in grades 6–12, promoting literacy as a foundational skill that shapes future academic and career success. This program addresses the statistics from The White House, which show that boys and young men of color are disproportionately at risk from early childhood through college and career stages, regardless of socio-economic background.
Through mentorship, encouragement, and engaging literacy activities, the brothers of Zeta Chi Chapter aim to close educational gaps and foster a supportive environment where students can thrive. This commitment to combating illiteracy not only promotes individual growth but also strengthens community resilience, inspiring young readers to embrace learning and overcome the challenges they may face along their educational journey.
